What Happened In the CaveAnna Porter Introduction The assignment for this wiki page is to create a conversation that never happened in the Bible, using incidents and characters from Genesis. The story I chose to elaborate on is the one of Lot and his daughters in the cave after fleeing from the city of Sodom. In my extension, Lots eldest daughters plan to trick Lot into having children with them. They do this in order to carry on the family name. The story is meant to emphasize the awkwardness and oddness of the incest occurring in this incident.

The style of painting is classical art, shown with the drapery of the clothes and exaggerated calf muscles on Lot. The painting shows Lot with his two daughters, one of them is pouring wine in order to get him drunk, while Lot touches the other daughter in a sexual way. Lot: So now what? what are we supposed to do, we're stuck in this cave for the rest of our lives and there is nothing we can do about it.... My wife just turned to salt and now im stuck here with you useless twitts. (yells) WHAT ELSE DO U GOT FOR ME, GOD??? (echo)sound effect: thunder, lightning and rain.
Eldest daughter: Well, your the father, why don't you come up with a plan to try to get us out of here!
Lot: Whatever, it's hopeless. I wish I were dead.
Eldest daughter: I can make that happen, you know.
Narrator: Later that day, when Lot fell asleep, Lot's daughters came up with a plan.
Eldest Daughter(to younger): So, since we are stuck here in this cave... Well... I think we should sleep with dad.
Youngest Daughter: I'm sorry, did I hear you correctly?(stuttering) You want me to sleep with dad?! Are you crazy!? I am not going to sleep with dad. Why on earth would I?
Eldest Daughter: Well think about it, we are stuck in this cave and when we all die, our father's last name will too. We need to have babies in order to keep the family name existing.
Youngest Daughter: But why dad!?
Eldest Daughter: Look around! Do u see any other men ready to have sex with us???
Youngest Daughter: Well... no.
Eldest: Okay then. I say that tonight, we give dad some wine, gettem drunk, then I'll get him in bed. Then, tomorow night, you do the same.
Youngest: no. no. no no no no! Absolutely not! it is wayyyyy to wierd for me.
Eldest: It's not that wierd.
Youngest: Think about it! He'll be the father and the grandfather!
Eldest: well It needs to be done!
Youngest: I will not do it! You can go screw up your life, but dont you dare take me down with you.
Eldest: Common, if you do this for me and the family then... ill give you my cammel.
Youngest: Roxy... youll give me Roxy?
Eldest: I will give her to you for the rest of your life.
Youngest: DONE! That is soooo woryth sleeping with dad! IM GETTING ROXY!

Eldest: Hey dad! want some wine.
Lot: Sure why not. Iease the pain.
Eldest: Here you go.
Eldest whispers to the youngest: I think hes just about drunk enough to sleep with his own daughter. Get out of here so we can get things rolling.
Youngest: Okay. Ill be back before morning. Don't do anything your going to regret.
Eldest: Too late for that._
Narrator: Even Later that night. sound effect: music that shows that she is thinking to herself and going into a thought bubbble.
Eldest talking to herself: I just im not sure if hes drunk enough... I need a sign.
Lot: I. Think. I'm. Drunk.
Eldest: well that was perfect.(thought)
sound effect: music that shows her thought bubble is going away. retun to reality.

Narrator: The next morning
sound effect: yawn Lot: what happened last night?
sound effect: cough cough
Youngest: uhh lets just say... she raped you while you were pretty much passed out drunk. Oh ya, and now shes preggerz.
Lot: Oh...
sound effect: Cricket cricket cricket
Narrator: The next day at breakfast.
sound effect: cricket cricket cricket
Narrator: 9 months later at breakfast.
sound effect: cricket cricket cricket.
eldest daughter: You were right.. this is awkward.

Character Analysis Lot’s cluelessness about his daughter’s plan leads him to perform actions that show he is desperate to keep his family name alive. In the painting, the picture portrays an image of Lot in the cave after him and his daughters fled from the city of Sodom. In the image, lots hand is on his daughter’s breast, feeling her in a sexual way. This is an example showing that lot was clueless and drunk, which led him to desperately sleeping with his daughter. He didn’t know what he was doing and made a careless choice that could be considered good in the long run. His act is important to the work as a whole because lot was a descendant of Abraham and he fulfilled his duty of keeping the family name existing. In the dialogue recently written for a class project, Lot shows his lack of knowledge of his actions. He asks his daughters in the cave, “So, what exactly happened last night?” Lot knew he did something he regretted but he was so drunk that he failed to realize it until the next morning. This is a good thing because if he wasn’t so clueless the previous night, he would have not done those desperate acts and impregnated both his daughters. Then, Lot would have had no descendants after his 2 daughters died.
Lot’s eldest daughter is so dedicated to her family that she is willing to deceive her father. The picture is of Lot and his two daughters in their cave hideout after they ran away from Sodom. In the picture, it clearly shows Lot’s daughter sitting at her father’s feet with her breast exposed. Her position and her father’s hand on her breast clearly show that she is dedicated to her family and will let her father violate her if it means keeping the family alive. The breast exposed also conveys that she is willing to do whatever it takes. In the dialogue, some of the lines portray that Lot’s eldest daughter is a schemer and is willing to deceive her father. She says “We give dad some wine, get him drunk and then ill get him in bed.” This shows that since she is so dedicated to family, she will plot behind his back and secretly trick him. This also shows that she is very loyal and will stick to her word and carry on the family name. She is important to the work as a whole because her trickery and sneakiness is what made Lot’s family continue. If she wasn’t so dedicated and deceitful, the name would have died along with them.
Script Analysis Anna Porter wanted to convey the eldest sister as a girl who takes action and does things for herself. Porter wanted the character to be independent and not rely on Lot. She did this by adding the line, “So, since we are stuck here in this cave… well… I think we should sleep with dad.” She is the one who takes initiative and realizes the despretness of the situation. Porter also wished for the character to be devoted and loyal. Through the quote, “Common, if you do this for me and the family, then… I’ll give you my camel,” Anna portrays the daughter as a girl who is willing to do absolutely anything for her father. Not only is she sleeping with her father but she is also giving away her camel in order to do the unenthusiastic deed. Porter made her the ideal daughter who is loyal and takes care of herself.
Reflection The process of this project was a long and hard one. This project was particularly hard because we finished the bible long before we started the project. Once it came down to the few weeks before the deadline, it had been months since I had opened the bible. What also made it difficult was that we had started and finished other papers and projects in between the start and finish of this project. I started off by writing my script and then wrote the character analysis. Those two things were the hardest only because there were many things that had to be included within them. After those two things were done, I made my way down the checklist until it was all was complete. I ran into one large obstacle along the way, I had to re-record my dialogue due to technical difficulties. Because I only had a small amount of time to edit the recording, it was a challenge. The editing was also challenging because it took some time to figure out how to use some of the tools.
